Green Smoothie Girl Detox – Day 1 & 2

In response to the daily prompt: Control I was looking up ear candling the other week and came across a youtube video done by the Green Smoothie Girl. She had a very complete and easy to understand video about how to do ear candling. So I watched the video and have yet to buy the ear candles, but I did subscribe to her channel and went to visit her website. After all the diet books and websites that I’ve read and diets that I have tried the green smoothie girl website was such a refreshing change. It is simply about being healthy. Wow! So I bought an inexpensive high-speed blender and started adding some green smoothies to my diet. Can’t go wrong there. Then I found out about the detox. The one thing that I respect about the Green Smoothie Girl is the one thing that has drawn me to the detox – research. She has done her research and explains the whys and wherefores of the health benefits of the detox most completely and …

A Beautiful Day Off

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Sparkling or Still.” The sun is shining, but there are light and wispy clouds dancing across the sky. I look up and watch them spin and flow. There is an angel, a spiral, a flower. The fire is crackling; the bees are busy taking in the last of the pollen before the frost hits. It won’t be long now. The beauty of the fall flowering mums and drying of the raspberry fruits swirl together in one bittersweet scene awaking the senses and acknowledging the end of one season and the beginning of the next. A leaf falls. The smoke from the fire curls tall, spiraling toward the sky, then is whipped away by the newly arrived north winds of autumn. The ashes land softly on the keyboard and words flow freely, inspired by the freedom of a beautiful day off.

Getting Firm – Lessons from my Workout Video Collection

Getting SpiteHot is going to require some movement – movement of not only attitudes and perceptions, but downright physical movement. The big headlines over the past few days have been about the newest study that has found, yet again, that those of us with sit down desk jobs are not doing so well. I sit at a desk 8 hours a day. Check out these numbers from http://www.medicalbillingandcoding.org that I found at http://www.diygenius.com: Basically, the verdict is that movement is necessary to be healthy and sitting can be downright deadly. It is time to MOVE! Being on a budget I decided to take inventory of my current supply of workout videos and DVD’s. A little less extensive than my book collection, I have a couple of video sets and about 5 random workout DVD’s. This doesn’t surprise me because it’s easier to read a book than jump up and down. Thinking SpiteHot SpiteHot means to get healthy and use my past experiences to catapult me forward, so I took a trip down memory lane and …

Entering the Hypocrite Free Zone…

“You are the most negative person I know.” This was what one of the most important people in my life said to me this morning. I was a bit shocked. After all, I never seen myself this way, but as I have reflected on this so casually strewn statement I seen more. Reflected illumination. Over the years I have become a true believer in the law of attraction and I had thought that I was living my life in a manner that supported this. Not true. Does this mean that I am a hypocrite? Maybe, but how can I turn this around? Thinking SpiteHot SpiteHot is the epitome of self-confidence, self-assurance and self-esteem. How can anyone have a high level of self-esteem and still present a negative appearance? I have to switch to a positive mindset. So I’ve done some research. Three strategies seem to pop up most consistently: Yoga Meditation Taking Responsibility for your Life, AKA, Stop Acting Like a Victim I think I am going to tackle the whole Taking Responsibility for your …

Diets, diets, diets…

I recently took stock of all of the diet books I currently have in my possession. I’ve discovered 14; actually 15 if you include the one I have that describes what has been done, biologically, to the wheat plants in the United States over the past 40 years. I have books on Paleolithic diets, low carb diets, Mediterranean and South Beach diets, two (2) that describe the evils of sugar and one book by Denise Austin – I’ve always thought she has the best job in the world! In the parking lot of my grocery store there is a book donation box and I seriously considered just dropping them all in; after all, I’ve been in possession of all this information and I am still 40 pounds overweight! That; however, would not be the SpiteHot way of being. Thinking SpiteHot…  SpiteHot means to get healthy in spite of the outside influences that may hold you back. Let’s consider for the purposes of getting SpiteHot that the conflicting messages sent by the diet “industry” are the …
